Almost Knocking Over a Cup of Coffee

Your finger brushes the mug full of coffee.

It teeters and spins, dark liquid sloshes up the sides. Some launches into the air and arcs back down into itself. Some escapes over.

You refocus your whole attention to the unstable cup. Quickly and precisely you reach out for it, wrapping your fingers around the entire possibility cloud of its position. As your grip tightens, the cup joins with your fingers.

Once again the cup is as still as stone. Only small residual waves on the coffee's surface, and a ring of spilled liquid reveal what has happened.

A deep sigh of relief - interrupted. Grandma has walked over to chastise you.

Why are you again not using a coaster??

How could she possibly understand
what you and this cup
have just been through.
